Market of medical telemanipulators use in cardiac surgery is growing very rapidly. Demand for these modern tools of surgery is increasing as their use increases the precision handling and allows you to perform surgery in a less intrusive way - reduces perioperative trauma. MedMarket Diligence American company analyzes trends in the medical industry predicts that after 2009 the world market for surgical robotics will grow at a rate of 30-45% annually. To this day, in fact the only important industry in the U.S. company Intuitive Surgical has installed in clinics around 700 robots "to operate" da Vinci and over a thousand robotic endoscopic camera AESOP. According to European Union policies in Poland have formed a company that can compete with the innovation of U.S. firms.

Polish Robin Heart robot is a promising European competitor, currently in prototype phase. The introduction of these new tools to the clinics will need to expand research and training facilities, training of surgeons. We have in this area also a unique experience for several years leading surgical workshops for students and young doctors.

Foundation of Cardiac Surgery Development activities related to the protection of human health and the production of medical and surgical equipment, instruments and appliances for measuring, testing or research, as well as conducting research and development in medical science, biology, mathematics and the physical, chemical and technical. The effects of papers and design are implemented and produced clinically. The Foundation may conduct business directly or through a separate business establishments. The purpose of research and development in robotics is the implementation of clinical medical robots that can be freely used in a wide range of laparoscopic and toracoscopic procedures.

In September 2005, was launched a Department of Robin Heart Service to implement the production of surgical robots and tools of modern less invasive surgery. The Department is currently operating under the Foundation of Cardiac Surgery Development and organizational activities are conducted in order to transform it into a separate enterprise.

Poland's first medical robotics company was initially financed chiefly by the EQUAL Community Initiative Programme - European Social Fund (ESF). Robin Heart Service Department probably Poland's first medical robotics company is based on the project: "Virtual Incubator for Social Economy - a network model of cooperation." Was financed from EU funds within the PIW EQUAL and FRK funds. Operation of the plant supported financially Silesian Electricity SA Gliwice, Vatenfall and PKO BP SA. Robin Heart Service  Department attends as prototype, preparing further modifications robots, models, tools and other equipment developed.

According to the adopted development plan the first implemented system will be the camera control system for endoscopic Robin Heart Vision, job training, and innovative mechatronic tools less invasive surgery. Then the full Robin Heart system with the possibility of teleoperation performance at a distance.
